Summer Solstice 2012
Castle Ring, Cannock Chase
Castle Ring was thought to have been occupied around AD 50, by the Celtic Cornovii tribe. The fort at its widest point measures nearly 800 feet across, and its interior encompasses some 8½ acres, very impressive.
The Belinus line runs from near the Isle of Wight and passes through Uggington, Rollright stones, Biddulph Grange, Long Meg and Rosslyn Chapel (just to name a few). Also, now I am convinced that it runs through both these hill forts. Other articles indicate that this line could be similar to the Michael/Mary leyline in that there are two that intertwine but further investigation is needed.
Started out in the morning in new car. Went to Castle Ring in Cannock Chase. I drew a line on my Ancient Britain map where I thought the Belinus leyline was. According to my calculation it disects Castle Ring. Further research had shown that another source thought it disected Meon Hill near Stratford-on-Avon, so I needed to visit both!
As an aside, I also found that a couple had come up with a theory about 'leylines'. They thought they were natural tracks made by animals, posibly migrating herds, and then used by man later as communication networks, interesting.
At Castle Ring I walked completely round the large hill fort. My rods crossed all round the perimeter except for either side where I found the leyline, 23 paces in width again, disecting the site in a SW-NE direction. Looking NE in the distance was the coal power station at Rugely.

Then I continued to Meon Hill iron age fort.Although private land I was able to gain access. The interior was really overgrown and difficult to enter but I was able to walk half way round the perimeter, again I found a leyline passing through, this time East-West. Again, the rest of the perimeter I investigated the rods were crossed all the time except for the 23 paces of the leyline (one side only).
