SUMMER SOLSTICE 2026

On to Llanasa (24m). To church. We approached, lady shouting at us! Not sure if it was to someone else! The young American lady had keys to church and was studying for clergy. Showed stamp in porch. Opened up. Gave us a potted history of church. Stained windows were from Basinwerk Abbey!
Then to maritime museum at Nefyn. Poster showed shuts at 15:00 on Sun! Luckily alternative at Nanhoron Arms Hotel. Got stamps at reception. Then round back at beer garden. Lager shandy x1.5. Singer quite good.
BARDSEY ISLAND...started out at 09:45. Arrived at Porth Meudy national trust car park at 10:45. Quite a long walk to PM (only small beach!). Waited...then at 11:28 ferry arrived.
Really fast boat, almost speed boat. Stopped near Is. to see Guillemots, puffins, another. Girl from Is. trust gave us quick spiel. Then to café. Had tea and bara brith with butter, brill. Weather very hot.
Walked along main path north. Stopped at "toiled"...had urinal AND sit down, both in. Stopped at Bird Observatory...lady told me most of their work now done out in field!
Went on to Abbey. Saw ruins. Then went in to church. Got passport stamps x3!
Then boat back. Drove to Aberdaron church on way back, had passports stamped.

Rowen...found ok, nowhere to park so decided to have a drink at pub which had car park. Weather nice too. Then to Capel Scion. Amazing seating...pews like auditorium, great. Had a look round, nice church. Got passports stamped. Then started drive to llangelynnin. Drove around a bit, no go. Stopped in car, me a little walk, still no go. Decided to input church again...noticed option for "old church". Brill, found it. But only car park. Long walk round through wet areas of fields, and climb. Found! Realized congregation in (found to be for Harvest Festival). Had a sing then realised not brought passport books! After 20m returned. R already getting to know everybody. Lady told us they had a new church built awhile ago but people got together and came back here (12th century!). Got passports stamped. Back to Rhyl Travelodge.  In morning went to Abergwyngregyn. Viewed church after walk from car. No passport stamps. Me got car, parked in dodgy place, walked ...

Summer Solstice 2012

Castle Ring, Cannock Chase Started out in the morning in new car. Went to Castle Ring in Cannock Chase. I drew a line on my Ancient Britain map where I thought the Belinus leyline was. According to my calculation it disects Castle Ring. Further research had shown that another source thought it disected Meon Hill near Stratford-on-Avon, so I needed to visit both! As an aside, I also found that a couple had come up with a theory about 'leylines'. They thought they were natural tracks made by animals, posibly migrating herds, and then used by man later as communication networks, interesting. At Castle Ring I walked completely round the large hill fort. My rods crossed all round the perimeter except for either side where I found the leyline, 23 paces in width again, disecting the site in a SW-NE direction. Looking NE in the distance was the coal power station at Rugely. Castle Ring was thought to have been occupied around AD 50, by the Celtic Cornovii tribe.The fort at it...

SUMMER SOLSTICE 2025

Drove to Llangernyw, the church is called St Digain with whitewashed walls but nice looking. Church open, found pilgrim stamp inside. Rods crossed all over on pathway.                   On to Eglwysbach to St Martin church. Did not enter church as stamp in porch. Also on display various jams so stamped passports then headed off.
