Spring Equinox 2016

Started out early to meet James at Whitby, he had already gone there a few days before by train. Whitby is an interesting town and because of the story about Dracula quite a draw to many people.
Having met up with James we went to view the Abbey, although it was not directly open to the public yet.
Between the Abbey and the Church I found just outside the church entrance a point where it appeared that two leylines met directly.
I found later that there may be a triangle of leylines between Pendle Hill, Whitby Abbey and Lincoln Catherdral, could I have found the meeting point? These had been found by dowsing.
The Winter Triangle is made as follows:-
1. Procyon in the constellation Canis Major, represented by Pendle Hill.
2. Betelgeuse in the constellation Orion, represented Whitby Abbey.
3. Sirius in the constellation Canis Major, represented by Lincoln Cathedral.
With its association with the 'Goths' a very pleasant yet strange town.

Within the churchyard was a very interesting Saxon Cross, called Caedmon’s Cross, although actually a late Victorian-style Celtic cross that commemorates the famous 7th century Anglo-Saxon poet, Caedmon. He lived for most of his life at St Hilda’s monastic community of Streonaeshalch in Whitby. Caedmon became an outstanding religious poet, and we have St Hilda to thank for that. The cross is richly decorated on all four sides and, although it’s not an ‘ancient’ cross as such – it’s still a remarkably stunning monument. It’s well worth visiting. It is almost 20 feet high and stands upon a solid stone-base. It was made from a hard type of sandstone quarried close by Hadrian’s Wall; and was set-up in 1898 to commemorate the 7th century poet of Whitby Abbey, founded by the Northumbrian saint, Hilda.
